Flipkart Plans to Sell Foreign Brands through Offline Stores
Flipkart is planning to enter brick-and-mortar space, following in the footsteps of Myntra and Urban Ladder to boost growth which is slowing down.
Flipkart isn’t planning to open its own stores initially, rather act as master franchisee for foreign brands in the local market.
It is already in advanced talks with Hong Kong-based Giordano for a licensing deal to sell its products both offline and online in India. Flipkart is expected to open Giordano branded physical outlets and sell it on the digital platform as well.
The growth in the e-commerce space has slowed down and the base has become bigger and the discounts have decreased. This has made companies rethink their strategies and hence a foray into other channels.
This strategy is being adopted in India as a majority of Indians wary of online purchases and they prefer to touch and feel before buying anything.
