  • The first 48 matches garnered 83.9 million viewers across sports channels on the Sony Pictures Network India.
  • Young adults who are in the age group of 15 to 30 have contributed 28 per cent in the pie. Of this 28 per cent 60 percent are male.
  • This season has witnessed the highest female viewership that is of 47%. In 2014 it was 40% only.
  • It is not surprising that youth forms the major chunk of World Cup viewership. Also, BARC data reveals that youth is engaging themselves in viewing television at an increasing rate.
  • According to the report, the share of viewership between males and females is equal when it comes to the youth segment. Gender ratio stands at 48:52 while urban rural ratio stands at 54:46.
  • India has a huge audience for the shows which cater to the needs of all the family members. Sports is one of them.
Be it Cricket World Cup or be it FIFA , India is still a one TV family screen and that leads to high percentage of co-viewing.
