Skoda Awaits a Ride with Tata Motors

  • Skoda is anticipating a push in its performance from 2019 when new products developed jointly with Tata Motors roll out. These products are targeted at emerging markets, including India.
  • The aforesaid products will have the brand character of Skoda but will be developed keeping in mind the Asian/Indian ways of development, choice of materials and productivity level and other strategies.
  • This will make Skoda extremely well placed in the industry as it will be able to leverage Tata Motors experience in operating India. In March, Tata Motors announced its partnership with German auto major Volkswagen under which it will work with Skoda.
  • Skoda has been seeing a decline in the number of vehicles sold in India. It is also upgrading the dealerships in line with its global identity.
  • Skoda believes there is a shift in consumer demand and given its positioning of ‘value luxury’, there could be an increase in the potential buyers for Skoda in the future.
