United Breweries will be betting on its new strong brew, Kingfisher Storm, to regain all the lost investors that have crossed over to Carlsberg.
The storm will directly compete with Carlsberg elephant, Tuborg Strong and recently launched Tuborg Classic. The product will be rolled out in next 1.5 years. It is one of the most aggressive launches by UB group.
UB is setting sights on youngsters to spend more on a strong beer with a smooth taste. The Indian beer market has been driven by strong beer, which accounts for 80% of the country’s overall sales volume.
UB, having a market share of 52%, will introduce a portfolio of imported beers and another strong beer brand by the year end. Labels such as Corona, Stella which are available only in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru will now be made available in markets across India.
