Facebook Inc transcribes audio clips from users of it’s services by outsourcing from contractors.
After confirming that this was the truth, the company said that they had stopped doing the same, Bloomberg reported.
The Report also suggested that, the users who chose the option in the Messenger App to get their Voice Chats transcribed, were affected. Facebook’s artificial intelligence was checked by the contractors in order to understand if it was interpreting the messages correctly or otherwise.
Statistics:
- Shares of Facebook pared gains after the report and were up 1.66% at $188.44.
- The company was ready to pay a record $ 5 billion fine last month in order to settle a U.S. Federal Trade Commission data privacy probe.
Facebook has been facing criticism over it’s privacy practices from lawmakers and regulators.
The Company’s attempt to undo a class action lawsuit claiming that they collected and stored the biometric dats for millions or users illegally without their consent was rejected by a federal appeals court, last week.
Earlier this month, Apple Inc and Alphabet Inc’s Google globally suspended reviewing recordings from users interacting with their voice assistants, as concerns over data privacy mount.
