E-tailers may log record $7bn festive month sales

E-commerce companies are expected to post a nearly 50% spike in gross sales to $4 billion this Diwali season, during the five-day sale event of Flipkart, Amazon India, and other companies, says the recent estimates from market research firm Redseer.

With the Covid-19 pandemic accelerating digital adoption and traditional offline shoppers showing their interest in online shopping, this festive season is likely to see a jump over 70% in consumers with 45-50 million digital buyers. Of these, over 50% are likely to be from tier-II cities or beyond. The entire festive season estimate of gross sales is $7 billion in 2020 whereas the last year’s gross sales were $4 billion.
