Telecom War over Quality and New Services

As there is no scope for prices to go lower, the competition in India’s telecom industry is entering into a new phase of better quality and improved services.
  • Reliance Jio started unlimited free 4G services and calling last September and went till March end. Afterwards, it started providing the same services at much lower rates than other service providers.
  • To improve its customer experience Airtel launched ‘Project Next’ under which it launched next-gen Airtel stores that aim to make interactions with customers smoother with no paperwork.
  • Apart from taking a step to convert into a fully digital service provider, Airtel also got a new plan for their post-paid customers allowing them to carry forward their unused monthly data quota to the next billing cycle.
  • Keeping in mind the different usage pattern of the consumers Vodafone revealed their plans like SuperHour/SuperNight (unlimited data) and SuperWeek (unlimited calls).
  • Idea Cellular is working on its website by making it visually more appealing to provide a smoother and friction-free navigation experience to their users.
The top companies are planning to invest majorly in towers, bandwidth speed etc. Companies have also started providing data security and insurance covers in case of phone damages to increase their customer stickiness.
