McDonald’s cooks up an Indian breakfast menu

  • McDonald’s is planning a breakfast revolution with a branded menu that will include culinary delights ranging from the masala dosa burgers with molaga podi sauce to the familiar anda bhurji.
  • It will also sell spinach and corn and hash brown brioches, along with plain and masala scrambled eggs, waffles, and hotcakes.
  • The new menu is a combination of continental and Indian options.
  • It will be rolled out initially in Mumbai, and then across India.
  • With the addition of ultimatedesi variation to its existing breakfast menu, McDonald’s aims to lure customers & sell more morning meals.
  • Consumers preferring fresh, homemade breakfasts or packaged healthier products like masala oatswill, however, be the biggest challenge for the company.
  • In 2009, the U.S. food retailer had introduced the McAloo Tikki burger which was specially crafted for India to take on a widely popular street food.
  • The India focus comes amid McDonald’sgiving up control of its business in China.
