Indians tune into large screen TVs

Televisions have always been a part of our house for entertainment. Be it cricket match or a movie, Indians have always had a bond with their TVs. And when it comes to televisions, Big Screens is what the Indians are going for.
  • The trend has gathered pace over the past 2 years prompting companies to launch TVs with larger screens compared to the earlier ones of 24 and 32 inch.
  • Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar and Youtube have fuelled up the demand for 55 inch and a larger category of ‘smart’ internet TVs.
  • The demand for big television screens is going to get stronger as the prices of the panels come down.
  • Apart from a larger content available for the viewer’s, affordability has been a major factor in pushing the trend.
  • Sony is one of the key players in this segment. While the total market for TVs is growing around 10%, demand for larger categories such as 55-inch and above is growing by over 50%.
People want connectivity and thus are upgrading their TVs in India, and a 55-inch screen size is proving to be the sweet spot when it comes to buyers.
