Bata to expand to smaller towns through franchisees

Footwear maker Bata India Ltd will expand in smaller towns & rural markets through franchisees.
  • Bata is looking to scale up its franchisee network from 50 to 400 within five years mainly in Tier III & IV markets.
  • Currently, the footwear maker has 50 such stores.
  • It is looking to start 100 new stores of its own, mostly in urban markets.
The shoe major, which sold about 47 million pairs last year, is also planning to realign its product line & go for premiumisation.
