Bharti Airtel for its network modernization and expansion of contract have contracted Rs.816 crore deal to Swedish gear maker Ericsson for Delhi as a counter to a threat from Reliance Jio Infocomm.
This new four-year contract will enable Airtel to offer better coverage and capacity thereby improving the network performance.
With this contract, Ericsson has become the sole supplier of Airtel’s mobile network. Along with 2G and 3G networks the company is also adding 4G TDD-LTE network.
Airtel would be able to launch 4G by combining FDD- using the 1800 MHz band- and TDD LTE technologies with the help of Ericsson.
Airtel has recently contracted deployment and expansion contract for 4G to finish telecom gear vendor Nokia for deployment in Gujarat, Bihar, and UP East.
