Indian internet companies are looking towards China and want to build a super-app. Paytm, is looking to create a one-stop place for its users, which is not only an e-commerce platform but also gives investment options in digital gold as well as booking services. The company has recently launched Paytm Bank.
Paytm is all set to take on the messaging platforms like Hike Messenger and WhatsApp, with its new chat feature.
With this built in app chat feature, Paytm will be enabling its 230 million app users, user-to-user communication.
Earlier in 2014 Paytm had launched a shopping app with a mobile messenger to allow its customers to negotiate with sellers.
Hike has launched Payment wallet and Unified Payment Interface, and WhatsApp is expected to begin its payment service soon.
‘Conversation is the new interface’, said Vivek Belgavi, leader for fintech, at PWC India and the Paytm’s high customer base, will give an edge for its chat service.
Other e-commerce companies such as Flipkart are also looking for similar kind of one-stop service, a WeChat model where services such as ordering food, hailing a cab, planning a vacation can be done. WhatsApp has 200 million users in India, Hike and Flipkart have over 100 million users.
