Demonetisation Effect: Traffic Police Goes Cashless; Now Pay Fines and File Complaints Online

  • Mumbai Traffic Police’s pet project MTPapp, an e-challan system is finally announced. It is an app which enables users to do cashless transactions, like pay fines when tickets are sent to their numbers when caught violating rules.
  • The system currently works only on android. This will help in curbing corruption. The system is already in place in Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
  • The offenders can also pay at Vodafone stores. Within the app, users can also post pictures of the people against whom the complaint get files. The app can also suggest its users of empty parking lots nearby.
  • There is also a list of traffic rules and violations in the app. Users can also upload pictures of violations they witness happening like signal jumping, seat belt violation, etc.
